Register now for a BPS virtual Townhall Meeting on the Office of Management and Budget's (OMB) Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) on Federal Financial Assistance that was released on May 29th. This proposed rule, if it moves forward as is, will formally put into place significant changes impacting how grants are reviewed, approved, and for what actions grant funding can and cannot be used. It would codify OMB as regulatory body in charge of how grants are determined and issued, placing more political controls on the priorities and selection process for scientific grants. The rule also has significant implications on international collaboration, marking a significant departure from the long-held tenets of scientific research and advancement.
